Personal Success Definition

I define success as achieving your goals and dreams. Finishing your tasks at hand and when you are done with them, move on to the next ones.

Simone Biles has created a platform for herself, that she uses to motivate other gymnasts. She had a dream to go to the Olympics, and she not only did that but got 1st two Olympics in a row! She had goals and one by one accomplished them all. She is the perfect representation of what success really is.

Skills for Success

In order for Simone to become successful, she needed to become good at something. That something became Gymnastics. She started gymnastics when she was very young, and it became what she was good at. She needed to become physically fit, in order to do flips, splits and everything else needed to compete in gymnastics. Another skill she needed to develop was to build the mental strength needed to throw advanced skills. Gymnastics is not only very hard on your body, but also very hard on your mind. You need your mind to be strong, if it’s not your very likely to get hurt both mentally and physically. Here’s an example, you learning how to do a back tuck on a four-inch beam. It’s the first time you are going to throw it by yourself. If you don’t have the mental strongness, your mind won’t let you do it. Or you will do it but will hurt yourself from not thinking properly. Having a strong mind is one of the biggest skills you need in order to be a competitive gymnast. Lastly, you need commitment. If you not committed to the sport, your are just going to quit when it gets hard, and it gets hard a lot. Simone never did quit, she kept going every single time things got hard, whether she got injured, or she couldn’t seem to perfect a skill, she pushed through.

Biles became the most-decorated female gymnast in world championships history when she won four golds, including another all-around title, one silver, and one bronze at the 2018 championships to bring her career total at that competition to 20 medals. So I guess you can say that she has had lots of success in her life.

Challenges Overcome

Simone says “The biggest obstacle that I’ve had to overcome is learning to have confidence in my abilities,” she says. “When I believe in myself, it always puts my nerves at ease and allows me to be my best.” “Consistency is the hardest part,” she says. “There’s a certain expectation that I will always perform at the same level that I have previously or higher. This is especially difficult because I only compete a few times a year, so you can’t really have an off day.”
